Following the successful implementation of National Science Week 2019, MOSTI continues to organize this program in 2020 in an effort to further invigorate the country's innovation and creativity activities. This annual Minggu Sains Negara organization will use a different approach compared to its previous years to reflect the inclusion of advanced science and dynamic technology.

To continue the momentum of the successful National Science Week, the Ministry has planned various activities that begin in the first week of April 2020 in 14 states throughout the country. This is in line with the decision of the Cabinet on 13 December 2017 for the National Science Week to be held in the first week of April every year nationwide.

However, the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the world and the Movement Control Order (MCO) implemented by the Government starting 18 March 2020 has caused the planning of National Science Week 2020 activities to be adjusted and restructured by adapting standard operating procedures (SOP) new norms.
